Water softeners & filtration in Gulf Stream
Gulf Stream homes are supplied by Town of Gulf Stream, and Gulf Stream scores 5.0/10 on our Honest Water Score. We install water softeners, whole-home filtration and reverse osmosis here, with the softener and RO package from $2,850 installed after a free test at your sink.
Small, coastal and mostly older estates, the kind of plumbing where a pre-sediment filter pays for itself before the softener does.

What’s actually in Gulf Stream water
Gulf Stream homes are on Town of Gulf Stream. Source water, per its report: Purchases all water from City of Delray Beach Utilities. Florida groundwater comes up through limestone, so it starts out mineral-heavy, but how much of that is left by the time it reaches you depends entirely on what your supplier does about it first, and in this county that varies enormously.
Where it comes back hard you see it as spots on glassware, a white crust around the faucet aerators, film on the shower door and soap that will not lather. What you do not see is the same mineral coating the inside of your water heater, insulating the element and making it burn more energy for less hot water. Where it comes back already softened, the win moves to the tap you drink from instead.
What that means in Gulf Stream: The systems where we most often measure meaningful hardness at the tap. None publishes its finished number.

That places Gulf Stream in Tier 3 (Lime softening only) alongside Delray Beach, Lantana and Riviera Beach, against a county average of 6.1 across 29 scored locations. After an install, homes score 9.5+, and the free test gives your own starting number.
Who supplies water in Gulf Stream?
Town of Gulf Stream supplies Gulf Stream, and its Town of Gulf Stream 2025 Annual Drinking Water Quality Report sets out the details. Source water: Purchases all water from City of Delray Beach Utilities. Treatment: Delray Beach lime softening process. Disinfectant: Chloramine.
Is Gulf Stream water hard?
Town of Gulf Stream leaves finished hardness out of its annual report, so the free test at your Gulf Stream sink is how you find out. What the report does list is the treatment: Delray Beach lime softening process. The systems where we most often measure meaningful hardness at the tap. None publishes its finished number.
Where does Gulf Stream's water come from?
Gulf Stream is supplied by Town of Gulf Stream, whose report gives the source as: Purchases all water from City of Delray Beach Utilities. The supplier and the treatment they use are what decide how hard your water is and what else is in it, and they vary enormously across this county. That is why we test at your sink rather than quoting an average.
Do I need a water softener in Gulf Stream?
The free test at your own sink answers it in about fifteen minutes. Where the water comes back hard, a softener is the biggest single change you can make to a house: no scale in the heater, no spotting on glassware, soap that finally rinses. Where it comes back already softened at the plant, we put the money where you will feel it instead: carbon filtration and reverse osmosis at the tap you drink from. Either way you finish knowing exactly which system fits Gulf Stream water and what it costs.
How much does a water softener cost in Gulf Stream?
Our softener plus reverse osmosis package starts at $2,850, installed, with a lifetime warranty. Your water hardness, the size of your home and where the equipment can go can add to that, so the free in-home test turns it into an exact number for your house in Gulf Stream before you decide anything.
How long does installation take in Gulf Stream?
A whole-home system is usually a half day. An under-sink reverse osmosis system is around two hours. We clean up before we leave, and the price you agreed is the price at the end.
